HCM City - Con Dao high-speed passenger boat service resumes after 9 months
(NLDO) - The Phu Quy Express 02 high-speed passenger boat operates on the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route, with an expected travel time of over five hours.
Thanh Thanh Phat Passenger Transport Co., Ltd. has recently hold an opening ceremony for the Phu Quy Express 02 high-speed passenger boat, officially launching its passenger transport service on the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route and vice versa.

According to the company, this marks the return of Phu Quy Express on the maritime route connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Côn Đảo following a suspension since September 2025. The temporary halt was implemented for maintenance, fleet upgrades, and investment in new vessels tailored to actual transport demands.
The Phu Quy Express 02 is an aluminum-alloy high-speed passenger trimaran, newly constructed at the Hong Ha Shipbuilding Company (Z173), a unit under the General Department of Defense Industry of the Ministry of National Defense. The vessel has been certified by the Vietnam Register to fully comply with current technical, maritime safety, and environmental protection standards.
The vessel features a maximum length of 52.43 meters, a beam of 10.3 meters, a draft of 1.35 meters, a gross tonnage of 493 GT, and a deadweight capacity of nearly 77 tons.
It is equipped with two Japanese Mitsubishi S16R2-T2MPTK2 engines with a total capacity of 4,190 kW, equivalent to 5,700 horsepower, allowing for an operational speed of approximately 30 knots.
While the boat has a registered capacity of 527 passengers, its actual operating capacity is configured for 498 passengers to enhance service quality and ensure passenger comfort.
The interior layout consists of 258 VIP seats, 126 economy seats, 8 VIP berths, and 106 economy berths. The modern design of the interior aims to improve the passenger experience on long journeys while increasing stability during operations in open waters.
According to the operation plan, the travel time between Ho Chi Minh City and Con Dao is expected to be around 5 hours and 15 minutes, depending on actual weather conditions. The company plans to operate one trip per day during the week and increase to two trips per day on weekends, holidays, and New Year occasions when travel demand peaks.
