HCMC to offer fully funded Korean language courses for civil servants

(NLDO) - The chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has approved a Korean language training program for civil servants.

The municipal government recently issued a directive to the departments of Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs regarding the implementation of a Korean language program for the city's civil servants.

Under the directive, the municipal chairman approved a proposal from the Department of Home Affairs to launch the training initiative, which will be organized by the Korean Education Center in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Department of Home Affairs has been tasked with coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs and other relevant agencies to roll out the program. Local departments and agencies have been instructed to facilitate their staff's participation, ensuring the initiative is practical, effective, and compliant with current regulations.

The move follows an open letter from the Korean Education Center - an agency under the South Korean Ministry of Education, to the HCMC Department of Home Affairs, offering to enroll city officials in the language courses.

The center will fully sponsor the program, which is designed to provide beginner-level Korean instruction integrated with an introduction to South Korean culture.

The 60-hour course will be taught by highly qualified Vietnamese instructors with extensive practical teaching experience. Participants will study from a standard curriculum developed by the South Korean Ministry of Education, supplemented by customized materials prepared by the instructors.

To receive a certificate of completion, students must attend at least 70% of the classes and score a minimum of 70 points on the final exam. The final assessment will utilize official exam papers compiled by the South Korean Ministry of Education.
