In a letter sent on Jan 16, US President Donald Trump invited General Secretary To Lam and Vietnam to join the Gaza Board of Peace as a Founding Member State, together with the international community, to promote a sustainable peaceful solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine in the Gaza Strip.
In his reply to the invitation from US President Donald Trump, General Secretary To Lam reaffirmed Viet Nam's consistent position of supporting and remaining ready to contribute to the international community's joint efforts to resolve conflicts and disputes through peaceful means, in accordance with international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and with respect for the fundamental rights of all parties concerned.

Viet Nam considers the establishment of the Board of Peace a necessary step to implement the Gaza Strip Peace Plan adopted by the United Nations Security Council in Resolution 2803 on November 17, 2025, which encourages UN member states to join the Board of Peace to promote peace, humanitarian relief, and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
In this spirit, General Secretary To Lam accepted the invitation to join the Board of Peace and affirmed that Viet Nam stands ready to participate as a Founding Member State of the Board of Peace, working alongside the United States and the international community to make active contributions toward a long-term and comprehensive solution to the Middle East peace process, including the establishment of a Palestinian state coexisting peacefully alongside the State of Israel.
General Secretary To Lam also proposed that Viet Nam and the United States continue cooperating to advance their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a more substantive and effective manner, enhancing cooperation across multiple areas in line with the needs and priorities of both sides, on the basis of mutual respect and the safeguarding of each nation's legitimate interests, thereby contributing positively to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
