A return of thanks: Canadian visitor comes back to Khanh Hoa after lost wallet story

(NLDO) - A Canadian tourist who lost his wallet and had it recovered by Vinh Hai Commune Police in Khanh Hoa Province later made a surprise return to Vietnam.

Police in Vinh Hai Commune, Khanh Hoa Province, recently announced that they had received a letter of appreciation from Mr. Robert McCrabb (born 1971), a Canadian tourist who had earlier been assisted in recovering lost belongings during his stay in the area.

On February 7, 2026, while kitesurfing in My Hoa Hamlet, Vinh Hai Commune, Mr. Robert McCrabb accidentally lost his wallet containing several important personal documents. After receiving his report, the Vinh Hai Commune Police swiftly dispatched officers to verify the incident, conduct a search, and successfully return all of the lost property to the tourist.

After recovering his documents, Mr. Robert McCrabb expressed heartfelt gratitude to the local police for their responsibility and dedication in supporting both residents and visitors. Upon returning to Canada, he carried with him a lasting positive impression of the Vietnamese people and local authorities. On April 10, he made an unexpected return to Khanh Hoa, where he personally visited the Vinh Hai Commune Police headquarters to once again convey his appreciation in writing.

In his letter, Mr. Robert McCrabb wrote: ‘I want to thank this police station. You found my wallet and helped me and my wife so much. I am returning to Canada on April 15, 2026, and hope to come back on November 1, 2026. I want to express my gratitude to all of you here. Vietnam is a wonderful country, and we have been treated like treasured guests or even family.’

According to the Vinh Hai Commune Police, this gesture reflects the appreciation of international visitors and helps promote a positive image of the Vietnamese People’s Public Security force as dedicated and service-oriented. It also enhances Vietnam’s reputation as a friendly and safe destination in the eyes of the global community.
