Tet greetings from British and US envoys
(NLDO) - British Ambassador Iain Frew and U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Courtney Beale wished the Vietnamese people a happy Year of the Horse.
They marked the holiday with heartfelt gifts and meaningful community activities.
To ring in the 2026 Lunar New Year (Tet), British Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew and U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Courtney Beale delivered New Year messages expressing their hopes for a year defined by opportunity, cooperation, and prosperity.

In his holiday address, Ambassador Frew shared his joy in celebrating the lunar transition alongside the local community. He noted that the vibrant spirit of spring was palpable across the country, bringing a sense of jubilation and optimism.
Joined by British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Alexandra Smith and the staff of both the U.K. Embassy and Consulate General, Frew welcomed the new year with confidence in the prospects that lie ahead.
The head of the U.K. diplomatic mission expressed his belief that the Year of the Horse will usher in fresh opportunities, hope, luck, and success for the Vietnamese people. He also reaffirmed his commitment to further cultivating and strengthening the bilateral ties between the U.K. and Vietnam in the coming year.
"May the Year of the Horse bring strength, progress, health, happiness, and new opportunities. Happy New Year," Frew and Smith said in their joint statement.

Meanwhile, U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Courtney Beale opted to kick off the new year in the ancient village of Duong Lam.
There, she experienced the traditional craft of making artisanal soy sauce while introducing U.S. soybean products.
To mark the occasion, Beale, alongside U.S. Marines and embassy personnel, also hosted a "Toys for Tet" charity event. The delegation distributed gifts to children at the SOS Children's Village, spreading warmth and holiday cheer during the early days of spring.
Beale conveyed her wishes to the Vietnamese public, hoping the Year of the Horse will be filled with happiness, strong health, luck, and prosperity.
