Vietnam raises over 318 billion VND in support of Cuba

(NLĐO) - Campaign to support the Cuban people will run for 65 days, from August 13 to October 16, 2025.

The Vietnam Red Cross Society's Central Committee announced that as of 8 a.m. on August 18, the fundraising campaign in support of the Cuban people had reached 318.6 billion VND, with 1.65 million contributions. This figure is nearly five times higher than the minimum target of 65 billion VND set for the entire campaign.

The Vietnam Red Cross Society's Central Committee also extended its heartfelt gratitude to the millions who have joined the program "65 Years of Vietnam–Cuba Solidarity."

Emphasizing that each figure represents not only an achievement but also a testament to the steadfast friendship of the Vietnamese people for their Cuban brothers and sisters, the Vietnam Red Cross Society called for continued efforts to spread this journey of compassion.

A powerful message to the international community

The fundraising campaign in support of the Cuban people, "65 Years of Vietnam–Cuba Solidarity," is part of the "Vietnam–Cuba Friendship Year 2025," marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1960–2025).

The program will provide the Cuban people with food, essential goods, and sustainable humanitarian assistance.

This is not only a humanitarian campaign but also a powerful message to the international community: "Vietnam always stands with Cuba, just as Cuba has always stood with Vietnam."

On August 14, the Vietnam Red Cross Society's Central Committee issued a "Letter of Thanks" after the campaign to support the Cuban people, titled "65 Years of Vietnam–Cuba Solidarity" under the "Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year 2025", reached its target of 65 billion VND in just 30 hours. This was the minimum amount set for the campaign.

In the letter, Nguyen Hai Anh, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Vietnam Red Cross Society's Central Committee, affirmed: "This is vivid evidence of the special, steadfast and faithful friendship and solidarity of the Vietnamese people with our Cuban brothers and sisters; it is also a precious resource that will help them overcome difficulties, stabilize their lives and continue to develop."

The eternal symbol of Vietnam–Cuba solidarity 

As the body entrusted by the Party, the State and the Vietnam Fatherland Front to lead the campaign, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross expressed gratitude to government agencies, political and social organizations, mass organizations, units, businesses, international organizations, benefactors, and especially the Vietnamese people at home and abroad for their support and solidarity with the Cuban people.

"These noble gestures carry not only material value but also illuminate the spiritual value, helping preserve and nurture the eternal symbol of Vietnam–Cuba solidarity in all circumstances," Nguyen Hai Anh stressed.

The campaign will run for 65 days, from August 13 to October 16, 2025.

Organizations, individuals, citizens and groups can contribute financially through various means: donations from staff, members, union members and workers in agencies, organizations, schools and residential communities; QR code transfers to the Vietnam Red Cross Society; public donation boxes; mobile applications ("Thiện nguyện" app, Viettel Money); the Vietnam Red Cross Society's website; or creative school initiatives such as letter-writing and "small plan" fundraisers to support Cuban children.

All funds raised will be transparently received, managed and transferred by the Vietnam Red Cross Society's Central Committee to the Cuban people within 2025.
