Da Nang Int'l Fireworks Festival: Impressive opening night performances revealed

With the theme "Cultural Quintessence," the opening night promises an impressive encounter between two fireworks teams from two continents: The home team Da Nang (Vietnam 1) and the reigning champion JoHo Pyro Professional Fireworks AB from Finland. 

Together, they will pen a vibrant and emotional opening chapter for what is anticipated to be the most spectacular Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) in history.

A greeting steeped in Vietnamese identity

As the host, the Da Nang International Fireworks Team will once again "fire the first shot" for this year's DIFF season. 

Having been a consistent part of the festival for 14 years, the team from the city by the Han River will present a performance titled "Cultural Quintessence" – a meticulously orchestrated symphony of light and sound designed to recreate the essence of Vietnam over 50 years since the liberation of the city.

The more than 20-minute performance is divided into four distinct parts, utilizing thousands of fireworks precisely programmed down to the second, synchronized with the musical score. 

The combination of distinctive traditional Vietnamese music and familiar international songs not only honors the beauty of Vietnamese culture but also reflects Da Nang's spirit of integration and openness – a dynamic city in its "Era of Ascent."

Mr. Nghia Hoang, captain of the Da Nang fireworks team, shared: "We want to use the language of music and fireworks to introduce friends from around the world to a Vietnam rich in identity yet modern, ready to connect and develop." 

More than just a competition, the Da Nang team represents the spirit of creativity, the aspiration to rise, and is a cultural symbol of the city – a festival destination of peace and innovation.

The return of the Northern lights

If the Da Nang team tells a story of national pride, JoHo Pyro – the reigning DIFF 2024 champion from Finland – brings a completely different world with their performance titled "Nordic Lights." 

Inspired by the aurora borealis phenomenon in Northern Europe, the Finnish team's display is an emotional journey through music and light, recreating the ancient life of fishermen living amidst harsh yet poetic islands.

Set to the music of Stormskärs Maja – a melody associated with the traditional fishing villages of Finland – JoHo Pyro creates a harmonious blend of modern fireworks techniques, unique water fireworks, and their distinct musical taste, ranging from rock to pop. 

It was this bold combination that helped them win the championship last season, and it is now expected to create another surprise at DIFF 2025.

"This is not simply a performance, but a message in fire – where art connects people and opens up new beginnings," shared a representative from JoHo Pyro. With burning passion, the Finnish team will bring the breath of Northern European nature to the audience in Da Nang on an unforgettable night.

A fusion of Asian and European colors

Held at Da Nang's most brilliant transitional season, the opening night of DIFF 2025 is an intersection of two cultures, Asian and European, between Eastern tradition and Western liberation. Despite cultural and performance technique differences, both teams share a common passion for the art of light, striving towards a message of peace, connection, and creativity.

In addition to the two spectacular fireworks displays, the audience will also enjoy an artistic feast featuring many famous artists such as Tung Duong, Kieu Anh, Nguyen Tran Trung Quan, Thu Hang, and more. The program, hosted by MCs Anh Tuan and Luong Thuy Linh, promises to deliver a wide range of emotions to viewers.

A special highlight of this year's opening ceremony is the first-time application of augmented reality (AR) technology within the event space. Through the Sun Paradise Land application, the audience can interact with Da Nang's cultural symbols in an extended virtual reality space of up to 600,000m², displayed with 10 million pixels – a groundbreaking and unprecedented digital experience in previous DIFF seasons.
