Spreading national pride

Quỳnh My - Thu Anh

(NLĐO) - Vietnamese youth enthusiastically celebrate the 50th Anniversary of National Reunification with civilized, modern, and creative activities.

These activities are not only a tribute to previous generations but also a way for the youth to affirm their role in preserving and promoting patriotic traditions, and fostering national pride.

A positive trend

These days, on social media platforms, primarily TikTok, thousands of videos showcasing dances to the songs "Máu đỏ da vàng" (Red blood yellow skin) and "Viết tiếp câu chuyện hòa bình" (Continuing the story of peace) have garnered millions of views and interactions.

This is no longer just an entertainment trend but a way for young people to express their interest in and connection with the nation's heroic history.

The highlight of this trend is the combination of catchy music and beautiful choreography. From students to young entrepreneurs and artists, many enthusiastically participate in performing dance moves to the emotionally charged music and lyrics. Everyone consciously invests in costumes, scenery selection, filming techniques, editing, and effects with great care.

This trend is not only popular domestically but is also embraced by young Vietnamese living and working abroad.

In addition to sharing tips for the best spots to watch the parade and military parade, many young people are also investing in creating unique personal photo sets.

Ideal backdrops include: Ben Bach Dang Park (district 1, Ho Chi Minh City), the site of 15 ceremonial cannons prepared for the April 30th grand ceremony; the Thong Nhat Palace; the Book Street...

Mr. Pham Phu Tuan (30 years old, a university lecturer) dedicated an entire morning to capture beautiful moments with the fluttering National Flag at 30th April Park. According to him, taking and "showing off" photos with the aim of expressing historical remembrance and honoring the nation's heroic traditions is commendable.

Ms. Doan Thi Kim Ngan (resident of Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh City) recorded a special moment before the grand ceremony in a pure white Ao Dai.

Seeing the radiant young people around her, holding the National Flag in their hands, the 9x generation girl was very moved. "These photo sets are not just for 'living virtually'. I truely believe this is a youthful and modern way for us to express our love for our homeland and country" - Ngan confided.

Many young people have simultaneously changed their profile pictures and cover photos on personal pages to images featuring the National Flag or slogans celebrating the major holiday. Posts filled with affection for their roots and appreciation for peace flood social media.

Phu Tuan, along with thousands of other young people, wants to spread the spirit of patriotism and national pride through beautiful and memorable images.

Aspiration to live and contribute

Not only do young people retell the nation's historical narrative in their own way through digital products, but many also see this occasion as a valuable opportunity to enhance their historical knowledge. Museums are bustling with groups of young people coming to learn and visit.

Numerous exhibitions displaying rare documents related to the Great Spring Victory of 1975 have garnered attention and participation from the youth.

Tang Huynh Minh Tai (a second-year student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) spent a lot of time admiring and reflecting at the "Non sông liền một dải" (The country united as one) exhibition organized by the National Archives Center II.

Not only Tai but also his friends diligently took notes and photographed documents they were accessing for the first time. For Tai, these valuable data sources are extremely beneficial for young people to have a more comprehensive, profound, and accurate understanding of the nation's important historical milestones.

"The more we understand the sacrifices and hardships of the previous generations, the more young people cherish freedom and peace, and know how to live beautifully and worthily in the favorable conditions we have today" - Tai shared.

Overseas student Truong Nguyen Kieu Phuong, currently studying in Busan - South Korea, said that these days she always follows all the news from her homeland leading up to the grand ceremony. Although unable to witness and immerse herself in the joyful and vibrant atmosphere firsthand, thanks to information from newspapers, radio, and social media about the continuous rehearsals for the military parade and other rich activities, Kieu Phuong is extremely touched and proud.

The 23-year-old enthusiastically shared impressive images of her country with her classmates: "Every time I see wonderful moments, I love my homeland and country even more and have more motivation to study."

Phuong expressed: "No matter where we are, we - the young people far from home - are still a part of the Fatherland, always looking towards our roots with faith and the aspiration to contribute to our homeland."

The diverse and creative activities of young people during this year's April 30th celebration demonstrate that the spirit of patriotism is not only preserved but also spread strongly in a way that aligns with modern times.

It is a testament to the continuation of national traditions and the pivotal role of the younger generation in building and defending the homeland.
