Echoes of Heritage: Vietnam’s national treasures on public display

(NLĐO) - 17 national treasures from public museums and private collectors in Ho Chi Minh City have been exhibited together for the first time.

To honor the value of National Treasures, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports organized a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision to recognize a National Treasure: the ceramic pot from the private collection of Pham Gia Chi Bao, and to open the special exhibition "National Treasures - Heritage Masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City".

This marks the first time that 17 national treasures from public museums and private collectors in Ho Chi Minh City have been exhibited together, offering a comprehensive overview of Vietnamese history and culture from prehistoric times to the modern era.

Some national treasures displayed at the exhibition

The exhibition brings together numerous artifacts from various cultures, including Dong Son culture (2,500-2,000 years ago) such as Ceramic Pot.

Also on display are national treasures from the Oc Eo culture (2nd-8th century), such as Vishnu God Statue, Surya God Statue, Durga God Statue, Avalokitesvara Statue, Sa Dec Buddha Statue, Binh Hoa Buddha Statue, Loi My Buddha Statue, Son Tho Buddha Statue.

The exhibition also features artifacts from Champa culture, including Indochinese Buddha Statue, Devi Goddess Statue, Avalokitesvara Hoai Nhon Statue, Avalokitesvara Dai Huu Statue.

Additionally, more recent artworks are featured, such as Luong Tai Hau chi seal, a printing mold for a 5 Vietnamese dong banknote (dated 1947), the lacquer painting "Spring Garden: Central, South, North" by artist Nguyen Gia Tri, the painting "Youth of the Copper Wall" by artist Nguyen Sang.

The special exhibition "National Treasures - Heritage Masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City" is not only an major cultural event but also serves as a bridge between the past, present, and future.  It aims to deepen public understanding of the value of national cultural heritage and promote greater awareness in preserving and enhancing Vietnam’s heritage legacy.

The exhibition runs from June 29 to August 10 at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History.
