The Russian contingent taking part in the parade and march to mark National Day on September 2 belongs to the 154th Independent Preobrazhensky Guards Regiment.
This is a special unit that preserves the traditions of the guards under Peter the Great. The regiment’s history is tied to the legendary Preobrazhensky Regiment, a symbol of Russian military glory and honor.
Today, it serves as the “calling card” of the Russian Armed Forces, an honor guard unit that welcomes heads of state and takes part in the country’s largest military parades.
